About the Show

Coroner Talk™  is much more than just a web site. We are a community of professionals in the field of death investigation. Whether you’re a coroner, a member of local police or county law enforcement, an EMS professional, medical examiner – or fulfill another capacity related to death investigation, Coroner Talk™  is the right community for you. We provide training and resources to coroners and death investigators by and from professionals around the world, in a peer to peer training environment. Coroner Talk™ was developed after recognizing the need for training among coroners and small department investigators, limited by resources such as time away from department and other expenses

small_right_arrowPreparing For The Show

You know your subject

You know your subject matter better that anyone else and you will have no problems sharing that knowledge with our listeners.  The best way to be prepared is to create an outline of the topics and highlights you want to be sure  we cover.  This show is conversation based more than it is an interview style, so after we get into the subject we are discussing the conversation will flow smoothly. However, because it is a conversation we  can get off track and may loose the pattern you have prepared.  No worries here unless you want to be sure we cover certain things or in a certain order.

A good suggestion is to email me a short outline of the main points you wish to discuss. By sharing an informal script of questions or points, we can discreetly steer the conversation back, if we veer off track. Rest assured, our goal is to provide engaging conversation for our listeners — we are committed to preventing stale dialogue.

The day of the show

Please plan for about an hour of conversation time.  I try very hard to guard your time and will never waste it. I understand full well how valuable your time is and will respect it.  It is equally important that you plan this time in your schedule so that you can be fully engaged  in the show during our conversation.

small_right_arrowPromoting Your Book or Company

Part of being a guest on the Coroner Talk™ podcast is that you will have the opportunity to represent your company or new book.If you wish to have your work promoted on the show please let us know in advance to insure the information is included in the broadcast, and all links and information in the show notes are posted on the web site. This is a great opportunity to promote your expertise, business, or product, and speak directly to your target audience.

small_right_arrowAudio and Video Quality

Audio

Please consider your location at the time of our conversation.  Background noise can be distracting to our listeners and make it very hard to hear or understand you. It is best that you are in a quite room free of distractions and noise such as other conversations, children, dogs, and traffic . Telephone connections  can not be made much better on your end. However, if we are connecting via Skype, Google Hangouts, or another online method, the quality of your voice and microphone does make a difference. If you have the ability to use an external microphone which would be connected to your computer, this is highly suggested.  You are the expert, and you want our listeners to hear you in the most professional quality possible.

It is not necessary that you spend a sum of money on an external microphone. Small headset microphones,  even gaming mics and cell phone headsets are better than the open air sound of your computers built in microphone.  If you have any questions about what may work just drop me an email and I will help you prepare. However, if you simply have no other options, or not in an area where you can provide a better microphone – then no worries. We will get our conversation out to our listeners the best we can.

Video

In some cases we may be recording our conversation both in audio form as well as video.  In these cases you will want to  insure all the same issues as in the audio section, but with an additional consideration of your background and clothing.  Your background does make a difference. Nothing specific is required from you for a background, but remember, the world may be seeing what is behind you.  Housekeeping, decor, and distractions such as people moving about and televisions  all may be regarded as a distraction.

What you wear is not important as long as it portrays you and the show in a professional light.  The only real consideration for clothing is that it be in good taste; nothing that could be seen as offensive or revealing – consider your camera angle.

How You Can Get Links to Your Episode

If have interest in getting a copy of the audio or video simply let me know. I will send you the direct downloads links after the show goes live and the proper logos for you site to link to.  My only request is that as part of your link you use the podcast logo and make it plain that you were on the Coroner Talk™ podcast.

Social Media

It is important that after your show goes live you link to all your social media connections. This will further your reach and will help in any promotions you may have. Also, it will help in placing you in a professional light to other investigators and help to better  position you as an expert in your related field.  The best and easiest way to do this if from the the Coroner Talk™ web site when your show is live.  Most social media links are displayed and set to  share  to your personal groups and pages.  If a certain social media link is not listed you simply have to copy the url address and paste it to your post box inside your desired social media.

iTunes

Equally as important as social media sharing, is to leave a rating and review in the iTunes platform. This not only helps position Coroner Talk’s rankings among other programs, but ensures that your message enjoys more exposure more often, thus extending your reach to a wider audience.  To leave your rating and review, simply click on the iTunes link  here  and you will be directed to the page you need.

small_right_arrowMost Importantly
